How is UAE Gratuity Calculated?
Under UAE Labour Law, end-of-service gratuity is calculated based on your basic salary only (excluding allowances and bonuses).
Formula:
Daily wage = (Monthly salary × 12) ÷ 365
First 5 years: 21 days per year
After 5 years: 30 days per year
Minimum requirement: At least 1 full year of service to qualify.
Maximum cap: Gratuity is capped at 2 years salary (24 months).
Example: AED 10,000/month salary with 7 years of service:
Daily wage = (10,000 × 12) ÷ 365 = AED 328.77
First 5 years: 328.77 × 21 × 5 = AED 34,521
Remaining 2 years: 328.77 × 30 × 2 = AED 19,726
Total: AED 54,247
